Posted on 27. Jul, 2009 by Monique in social media
Blog Talk Radio Host, Beverly Mahone of Boomer Diva Nation, and guest Mitch Mitchell of I’m Just Sharing discuss issues of race relations, male vs. female blogging, and use of sexuality in social networking and marketing.
Title of the Show: Are You Blog Trippin’?
Rachel Lavern and I were guest listeners and participants on the call. I had so much fun during this discussion.
This is 60 minute show. . .Enjoy this thought-provoking exchange!
You can catch the next episode of Passions with Beverly Mahone on Sunday evenings at 7pm EST.

Beverly is so funny on her rant at the beginning of the show.
What a great idea to post this on your blog
I will have to watch for blogtalkradio programs that are relevant to my blog (personal development and manifesting) and adopt this idea also.
It is nice “meeting” you to Passions Blog Talk Radio Monique and then tweeting with you afterwards! Although I have exchanged tweets with Mitch in the past, today was my first time hearing him speak.
I am just wondering if female bloggers write about things of a personal nature (families, relationships, feelings, hobbies, etc.) while male bloggers tend to write about politics, business, sports and finances. Women seem to want to bond even in their blogging–we tend to want to engage our readers. Men tend to be competitive in their blogging and I wonder if there is a degree of one-upmanship in their blog posts?
I like your Woo Theme.

Rachel it was a pleasure meeting you as well. Social media just makes the world so flat that we all could come together on that call last night. I like two-way conversations on Twitter.
I think the biggest difference with men comes in is the nature of a man. In the book, “Act Like A Lady, Think Like a Man”, Steve Harvey goes into the thought process of a man. He discusses how if a woman were to say the phrase, “We need to talk,” that freaks men out and they just go into “fix it mode”. They want to know, what do I fix to solve the problem, whereas women are looking for more of a listen to what I’m feeling. Men are action oriented, they want to know what is the problem, and what you want them to do to fix it. When you get into emotions, men just don’t dig deep into that. I am seeing some top bloggers share pictures of their children and discuss some personal feelings. Those people in mind are Darren Rowse, Yaro Starak, and Chris Brogan. I think we sometimes get bombarded with all the strictly “Make Money Online” Men and forget about those that want to simple help people for the joy of helping.
Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate the dialouge.

Hey Mitch,
Thanks for stopping by. What do you think about my fix it mode comment? Do you agree that we should simply encourage an action regardless of gender?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I really appreciate you being a part of the show on social media. You added much to the discussion. I certainly hope you wil be a future contributor. I am one of those boggers who dicusses just about everything. As a matter of fact I rarely talk about my media consulting business ut I do try to subtly put it out there while promoting others. It's a strategy that works for me.

Fantastic, I didn’t know you were a consultant. Maybe we can discuss that soon. I had a chance to look at your youtube channel, I really enjoyed viewing your videos. I look forward to talking with you again.
